105 Years of Whoopee Days

Whoopee Days, an event well known among the locals, has been a time-honored tradition for 105 years in Brighton, Iowa. The event was first held in 1910, but was known then as Booster Days. It was not until the town wanted to really celebrate their new paved road through their business district in 1929 that they changed the name to "Whoopee" Days, meaning a hilarious good time. That year the celebration ended with big pavement dance, thus kicking off many more years of street dances.

Each year the event continues to grow. Don't miss the carnival, mud run, entertainment, talent show, parade, and more. The 105th Annual Whoopee Days is to be held June 18-21, 2015.
