New Vice President at Washington State Bank

Mike Greiner, a Washington local, has recently been promoted to Vice President of Washington State Bank. Greiner graduated from Washington High School and has been with WSB for four years. He received his bachelor's degree in Finance at University of Northern Iowa and his MBA from the University of Iowa. Greiner will operate and manage the new Fairfield branch opening in July. 


Washington Businesses Amongst Coolest Places to Work

Within Kirkwood Community Colleges seven county reach, a handful of businesses have been selected as the 'Coolest Places to Work', and three of them are here in Washington. Chamber members Ruhl & Ruhl REALTOR, US Bank, and Washington State Bank will be honored at the CBJ event, June 16. Businesses were selected based on employee satisfaction survey. 


Families of Washington Students Save Over $90,500 in College Tuition

Washington High School has 114 students attending classes at the new Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center this spring. They are earning 625.5 college credits, saving their families over $90,500 dollars in tuition costs. Several additional students participate in Kirkwood courses at the high school. 


Local Wines Receive Metals in International Competition

Wooden Wheel Vineyards out of Keota entered six of their wines into the Finger Lakes Competition in Rochester, New York, and they left with five metals. There were 3708 wines from 27 countries and all 50 states to be judged.

Washington is in the TOP 10

We have always known that Washington was one of the best, but the results are in and we rank in the Top 10 best in two more categories state-wide. Smart Asset released that we were in the 10 Top towns for mortgage rates a couple months ago, and this month we find that we are also listed in the Top 10 for Retirement and for Recreation & Social. We rank 4th in the state for retirement and 9th in Recreation & Social.
